Habitat for Humanity
Spring Break Trip 2006
We traveled to Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, to build a house, play on the beach, and enjoy the sunshine! We left on Saturday night around 11pm and spent the next 15 hours in the vans. Upon arrival, we unpacked and headed to the beach. The Habitat crew made us a dinner fit for Thanksgiving before we get some much needed rest. The week begins...
Monday
We began the day with hammers in our hands at 8am with nothing but a simple foundation and frame. We spent the day adding walls and getting the basics complete. We then headed to the beach to unwind, swam, and buried each other in the sand. We ended the day with some dinner at an Irish pub, some shopping, and bowling!
Tuesday
A crew came in to put on the roof so we cleaned out the Habitat house next door before returning to work on our own house. We added hurricane clips all over the roof and secured the sides of the house. Our Habitat leader also got us movie passes and we explored shopping at a local shopping center that night!
Wednesday
With our roof on, we started adding the details. Cece and Natasha came to visit us during Natasha's lunch break and we gave them the 'grand tour'! We spent a little more time at the beach and then used our gift cards to Angler's Seafood restaurant (Thanks Christy)!
Thursday
With our roof frame in place, we added the boards, made a present for Ceci and Natasha, and part of our group went back to the other house to add insulation. That night, our church's youth group made us dinner and Ceci and Natasha came to hang out for a while. We gave them their picture, sang a few songs, and introduced them to the lizards we found along the way.
